Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Season 2 Postponed to Fix On-going Issues
It’s important to keep in mind what’s going on within Activision Blizzard right now with regards to the ongoing assertion of workplace culture. The ongoing action against the company by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) is a reported harmful workplace culture action. Most of the lawsuits focus on “violations of national citizenship and equal pay laws,” especially regarding the treatment of women and other marginalized groups. If you would like to learn more about the proceeding so far, including the details listed in the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, please see the previous scope here.
Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Season 2 has been delayed.
Season 2, which was originally scheduled to release on February 1st, now starts two weeks later, on February 14th. The reason is so that Sledgehammer Games and the other teams behind Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific can spend more time fixing the issues players are experiencing. The same goes for these two titles and Modern Warfare.
The Call of Duty blog post released today reads: “We feel your frustration and we hear your voice loud and clear.” “We’ve deployed multiple dates so far, but more work is needed. For this reason, we have decided to reschedule the start of Season 2 for Warzone Pacific and Vanguard to February 14th. We will use this additional development time to deliver updates including gameplay optimizations, game balancing (including weapon and gear balancing). We are improving the overall level to improve game stability and bug fixes, and to improve the player experience in Vanguard, Warzone Pacific, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare.”
Future updates will improve quality of life and also provide tweaks to the core gameplay loops, mechanics, and balance.
“You can expect to hear more about the state of play in Call of Duty in the future,” the blog says. “Studio continues to focus on improving the gaming experience and takes community feedback very seriously. More frequent and detailed communication updates will be posted here and on the Call of Duty social channels.”
No date has been given as to when this update will be mentioned in a blog post, but the start of season 2 on February 14th will be a big update.
