Dead Space Remake: Changed Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle sounds based on feedback
EA has announced that they’re working on a 2021 Dead Space remake, sharing details about the lack of a loading screen and how to learn from past mistakes. Since then, Motive Studios has shared new information via a special behind-the-scenes live stream, and the last month has been all about remake audio.
Motive showed off new gameplay to highlight some of the audio changes made so far in the remake, especially with respect to the famous Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle weapons. During the stream, fans have already discussed their thoughts on the weapon sound in live chat, and Motive seems to have used these suggestions and feedback from elsewhere to further refine the sound.

As you can see in the tweet above, Motive has changed the sounds of the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle. Both sound deeper and more focused than the March livestream. You can hear the sound of this weapon in the original Dead Space, what it sounded like in the March stream, and how it sounds now in that video, and for those tuned in to the remake’s audio, the changes are quite stark. .
Of course, these changes are not final, and it’s no surprise that Motive hears feedback on the new audio and further tweaks the weapon sound. Next time we will see more of this Dead Space remake. Next month there will be a special show focusing on the visuals.
In the meantime, check out the latest Dead Space remake gameplay and read how the team plans to learn from past mistakes.
