Elden Ring Steam numbers are nearly 6x higher than software all-time highs

The Elden Ring is finally here after years of anticipation, and the hype it has built up since its 2019 announcement seems to have paid off for From Software.

That’s because less than 24 hours after launch, Elden Ring’s Steam numbers (powered by SteamDB, which tracks the number of players in the game) are already nearly six times higher than From Software’s previous highs. The previous high is in Dark Souls III, which has a top player base of 129,975. The current high for Elden Ring is a whopping 764,835, which is about 5.9 times higher than Dark Souls III.

An impressive achievement, but not necessarily surprising. Elden Ring is rated 10 out of 10 by Game Informer, and we’re not the only outlets we’ve rated so highly. In fact, the official Elden Ring Twitter account has posted images containing some of the 10 out of 10 reviews the game has received, and is so wild that it almost looks like Photoshop. ):

For reference, here’s a breakdown of From Software’s all-time high SteamDB numbers for titles like Souls prior to release on PC.

  • Elden Ring: 764,835

  • Sekiro: 125,315

  • Dark Souls III: 129,975

  • Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin: 12,106

  • Dark Souls II: 79,528

  • Dark Souls Remastered: 24,501

  • Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition: 11,259

Another thing to keep in mind is that these number of players are only on PC. There are still plenty of people playing the game on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. That said, there’s a good chance that millions of people are playing the latest games from Software right now.
