FIFA is dead, longevity EA Sports FC
After nearly 30 years of partnership, EA Sports and FIFA, the international football association, are saying goodbye to the release of this year’s soccer video game. The announcement is taken from a blog post by Electronic Arts that shows the next steps in the Footy franchise.
With the current deal settled in 2023, EA will no longer use the FIFA name in its popular soccer series and will instead adopt the name EA Sports FC. It is taking away the permitted identity from the name but still retains many deals with existing football clubs and players. EA Sports General Manager Cam Weber said in a blog post, “Everything you love about our games will be part of EA Sports FC. There will be the same great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs and athletes. no see.”
It’s unclear what might be missing from future iterations other than the possibility of losing use of the World Cup tournament. However, EA still boasts an impressive number of players and teams moving forward.
“Our unique licensed portfolio of over 19,000 players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30+ leagues has been investing in us for decades and will still be unique to EA Sports FC,” said Weber. “ he says. “This includes: We will have exclusive partnerships with the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, MLS and more.”
This year’s FIFA 23 will be business as usual with more features, World Cup content, leagues, clubs and more, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be affected by these changes. Weber says we’ll have to wait until summer 2023 to hear more about EA Sports FC.
