Halo Infinite Online and Split-Screen Campaign Co-op Postponed
Halo Infinite was originally released last November after a one-year delay from its 2020 release date, and didn’t launch with highly anticipated features like campaign co-op or Forge.
The lack of these features at launch last year was disappointing to fans as campaign co-op and Forge are now integral parts of Halo games. In February, Halo Infinite Creative Director Joseph Staten delayed an update regarding the mod scheduled for January, and now has finally received the update. Sadly, it comes with campaign co-op and the news that Forge has been pushed back in both online and split-screen experiences.
“We’re making great strides in the Campaign network co-op,” Staten says in the new update. “And obviously, this work ran in parallel with the season 2 work, just like the Forge work. But the reality is that it will take more time to start co-developing a high-quality, full-featured four-person network. -The expansive Halo Infinite OP EXPERIENCES IN THE WORLD OF OP EXPERIENCES We’re also committed to providing a great two-player split-screen co-op experience on all Xbox consoles, from the original Xbox One to the Xbox Series X. The non-linear, wide-open section of the campaign helps solve It presents some big problems with split screen which is more time consuming.
All of this means that we won’t be able to offer campaign network co-op on May 3, when season 2 starts. However, we are still aiming to offer campaign co-op in the second half of season 2, and we will share a release date. For that and for split-screen co-op as soon as we can.”
For Forge, Staten revealed that 343 Industries is already making this mod available to a handful of community creators and is working closely with them to ensure that the experience is “great”: crafting, sharing, exploring, and real-world gameplay.
“As we develop the Forge in the near future, we will continue to fly the Forge privately, and plan public flights later this year,” Staten says. “We still have the goal of releasing Forge with season three.”
