Lego Optimus Prime can be turned into one of the coolest sets

Following yesterday’s announcement that the Optimus Prime Lego set is in development and will be released this June, Lego has given us all the details we need and it looks like one of the coolest sets yet. Inspired by Optimus Prime’s G1 comic roots, this set consists of 1,508 pieces and retails for $169.99. The level of detail in the Optimus’ robot form is accurate, but even more impressive is the 19 articulation points that allow this build to transform into a vehicle form without disassembling it.

You can open Optimus’ chest to store the Leadership Matrix. He also features user-buildable accessories such as a blaster, energon cube, and hand-replaceable energy axe. This set will launch in stores on June 1st. There was no word on whether this would be a one-off with a Transformers license or if more disguise robots would be released.
