Marvel Reveals Official Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness Teaser
Following Spider-Man: No Way Home, which hit theaters a week ago, Marvel Studios has released a teaser for Doctor Strange in the highly anticipated sequel to Doctor Strange, the Multiverse of Madness.
No way home spoilers below…
Ok, I’m going to write a few extra sentences here for those who may have wandered a bit down the snow, just in case I missed the nice spoiler warning above. Just one more sentence for your wandering eyes, because I care about you and don’t want you to be spoiled for what you don’t want to be spoiled.
Okay, down to the multiverse.
If you’ve seen one of the many trailers for No Way Home, you’ll know that Doctor Strange is cast in a wrong spell that opens up a multiverse. This is how Tom Holland’s Spider-Man can fight the villains you’ve seen in previous Spider-Man movies like Green Goblin, Doc Ock and Electro. By the end of the movie, everything is going well with regards to multiverse containment, but anyone who has watched the finale of the post-credits scene knows that nothing can be said about Doctor Strange.
In fact, in a move not used by Marvel Studios after Captain America: The First Avenger, the last post-credits scene in No Way Home isn’t actually even a post-credits scene. This is a full-fledged teaser. This is the trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Today, Marvel Studios released the trailer to the public, which doesn’t require a No Way Home ticket.
This teaser reflects some of the words of the prudent Wong in No Way Home, who doesn’t want Strange to ruin the spell that eventually opens the multiverse. It then shows Strange meeting Wanda Maximoff, whom he hadn’t seen since the finale of WandaVision. The Disney Plus show wraps up what happened in Westview into what would have consequences for Wanda in Doctor Strange 2, but doctors quickly ignore it. He needs her help to restore her multiverse without getting her mad at her.
From here on, the teaser gets rougher in a way that can only be seen in Doctor Strange movies. We see and hear Mordo, a character we haven’t seen since Doctor Strange in 2016. And see Strange Supreme, a more vicious Steven Strange who first appeared on the Disney Plus show *Marvel’s What If?*.
