Quarry: Supermassive Games Reveals It Has 186 Different Endings
The Quarry, the spiritual sequel to When Dawn, the next horror game from Supermassive Games, is scheduled to release on June 10th. As the release date approaches, more information about the title is revealed.
Since The Quarry is the IGN First game of the month, much of that is via IGN, The Quarry turns out to have 186 different endings. That’s quite a lot, and it looks like players could play the query dozens of times without the same experience.

**Byles said the following regarding developing a game with nearly 200 endings.
“The stories widen and start coming back as you have a fork. It is as if the story itself is always a transformation rather than an end. We made 186 different endings for this character. Not only are they living or dead, but there are all kinds of variations that can happen to them, as well as a huge variety of stories that can happen.”
Going on, Byles says that big picks in the game are marked by rerouting. These have a huge impact on the outcome of the game, while small choices simply color the character you play or change the context in which others are talking about your character or how you feel about your character. You will also see a pop-up on your screen that tells you how your actions affect others.
To manage so many endings, Byles says it’s much easier to separate the game’s characters in the classic horror way. Because, for example, what happens to someone alone doesn’t affect everyone else. But he says killing someone is dichotomy. They are either alive or dead. Choices that don’t result in death make the quarry narrative divergent, says Byles.
You won’t have to wait long to check out some of these 186 endings as The Quarry launches on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 10th.
