Road 96, Procedurally Generated Road Trip, Coming Today to PlayStation and Xbox

Road 96 touts a procedurally generated narrative about multiple teenagers crossing the borders of the Petria country. Of course, we’ve seen a fair share of procedurally generated levels in roguelikes. Nonetheless, its promise of a changing and random storyline made Road 96 an ambitious experiment to watch when it released for the Switch last year. And while it may feel like Route 96 is flying under the radar, it’s voted one of the Switch’s best-selling indies of 2021! DigixArt’s third title launches today on PlayStation and Xbox.

You can view the Xbox launch trailer below:

The trailer showcases Road 96’s lively, cartoony aesthetic, but don’t take it for granted. Political and personal tensions are at the heart of the adventure game’s dynamic storyline. You will explore wilderness with vast deserts, lush forests and more while interacting with multiple NPCs (friendly or not) and making choices that affect different outcomes. All of this is packaged into a 4K 60fps experience. As the trailer’s narrator said, “Each decision can determine the fate of you and Petria as well. It’s time for you to set out.”
