The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel Postponed to Spring 2023

Nintendo has delayed the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to spring 2023.

The news comes via a video Nintendo shared on Twitter. Eiji Aonuma, producer of Zelda’s Legends series, says the development team needs more time to make it as special as Nintendo wants it to be.

Here’s what Aonuma said in the video:

“Hello, I’m Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the Legend of Zelda series. We have an update to share about when the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be released. We previously announced that we were targeting a 2022 release of the game. However, we decided to extend our development time a bit more and change the release to spring 2023. We apologize to those who have been looking forward to the release this year.

“As previously announced, the adventures of this sequel will take place not only on the ground, but also in the sky, just like the previous games. But the expanded world is more than that, and you can enjoy a lot more features, including new encounters and new gameplay elements. The entire development team continues to work hard on this game to make the experience of this game unique, so please be patient. Today’s announcement ends here. thank you.”

The video shared by Nintendo contains scenes from the sequel with at least one new scene. Unfortunately, Nintendo hasn’t shared an official name for the game and has mentioned that it is still a sequel to Breath of the Wild. Nintendo has mentioned the game since its announcement, and fans are eagerly awaiting the title reveal. Time will tell when that will be, and we will wait a little longer than expected.
